How we pay our faculty will decide SNU's future. To attract and keep world-class faculty, a globally competitive compensation system has to stand behind them. It is the first task SNU must complete to leap into its future.
So research holds steady, we will provide ₩30M a year in base research funding. Free spending within the fund with no line-item caps, and administrative burden minimized through after-the-fact reporting.
A lighter teaching load to improve the quality of teaching and research. With the autonomy secured by the 2024 revision of the Higher Education Act, the annual teaching-load standard will be lowered from 18 credits to 9, and colleges and departments will be free to set it lower still, respecting their particular circumstances.
